Indian Ocean warming up

Filed under: India — India website @ 5:10 pm

The eastern seaboard area of Africa had less rainfall. As per the study done under NASA by the Goddard Space Flight Center the decrease is because of the nearby Indian Ocean warming up. It has reduced by almost 15 per cent since year 1980. Countries like Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya had been having less rainfalls cause of the irregularities in the moisture transportation between the land and the ocean. Co-researcher Chris Funk says this is going to continue like this for next 20 – 25 years. The food production activity is definitely going to get affected due to scanty rainfall or for lack of adequate rains. The study has given warning to the agricultural sector of the East African countries.

The risk of getting injured by train is less than that when travelled by car. A report which is released by the AIHW – Australian Institute of Health and Welfare showed one per 100 million train passenger being injured seriously while traveling, whereas 10 per 10 million car users get badly injured badly in road accidents. The accidents take place by car occupants mainly on public roads. Among young people of 15 – 19 years and 70 years and above are injured the highest. People who use trains for commuting are either injured while boarding the train or while getting down. They get hurt sometimes inside the train, a quarter of them get injured at level crossings. Chances of getting injured in train are lesser than that on road. Road accidents can injure car occupants by accidents with any other road transport like motor bikes riders, trucks, vans or buses. So it is safer to travel by train.
